Developers will now have to be careful when uploading documents with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). A new order issued by the authority states that documents uploaded by promoter during registration or project update cannot be deleted. Builders complain that the government had already mentioned that it would not be stringent but now is turning so.
A builder needs to upload all documents pertaining to a property including an updated list of sold flats every quarter. Once the files are uploaded, he cannot delete the files but can upload additional documents.
Lots of builders are delaying registrations as the RERA rules are seeing continuous update. With the recent ruling, builders will become more wary of registrations.
